OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz were awarded two first-place finishes by the arenafootball2 league office today when they announced 14 special end-of-the-year awards. The awards recognize some of the outstanding work done by the 29 af2 teams in various promotional categories. The Yard Dawgz mascot, Deizel Dawg, was named the af2 Mascot of the Year for the third consecutive season. The team website, www.okcyarddawgz.com, also received first place and features Deizel's award-winning Mascot of the Year video. |

CHICAGO - The arenafootball2 league (af2) put the finishing touch on its 2008 season by handing out 14 special awards which recognize some of the outstanding work done by its member teams in various promotional areas. Notable honorees include the Corpus Christi Sharks, who earned top honors in three categories - Best Community Relations, Best Operations Clip and af2 Cares. The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz, Spokane Shock and Stockton Lightning each earned first place recognition in two categories. The top three finishers in each category are highlighted below: |

The Tennessee Valley Vipers defeated the Spokane Shock, 56-55, in overtime to claim the 2008 ArenaCup Championship in front of a record-crowd of 10,662 at Spokane Arena in Spokane Wash. This is the Vipers first-ever ArenaCup title in eight af2 seasons. |

The ArenaCup will be played this Monday, August 25 at 7:00 PM PT (10:00 ET) at Spokane Arena in Spokane, Wash. The American Conference Champion Tennessee Valley Vipers (13-6) tackle the National Conference Champion Spokane Shock (18-1) for the honor of being called the 2008 af2 Champions. |
