(Southaven, MS) --- The Mississippi RiverKings are now down 3-0 in the CHL Northern Conference finals against the Colorado Eagles, after Tuesday’s 2-1 loss at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. The RiverKings face season elimination, unless they can win Thursday night’s game four, set for 7:05 PM at the DCC.
Colorado opened the scoring in the first period, thanks to Phil Haddon’s first playoff goal at 16:15. Haddon took the centering pass from behind the Mississippi net and put it in the back of the net, helped by Adam Hogg and Erik Adams on the tally.

The Eagles next got the eventual game-winning goal nearly 14 minutes into the second period, when Ed McGrane scored on the power play, assisted by Riley Nelson and Kevin Ulanski for a 2-0 lead.

Mississippi did come back when defenseman Joe Markusen netted his second playoff goal at the 15:11 mark of the second period, assisted by Dallas Steward and Dane Marshall for a 2-1 RiverKings deficit after two periods.

There was no scoring in the third period, despite a furious attempt in the final minute and a half, as goaltender Kevin Beech was pulled for a sixth attacker, but the RiverKings could not score in the final moments.

Special teams hurt the RiverKings again, as they failed to score in eight power play chances, while Colorado scored once in seven extra man opportunities.

On the shot clock, Mississippi outshot the Eagles by a 48-21 margin, including a CHL playoff-tying 20 shots on goal in the second period. Mississippi held the Eagles to six shots in

Game four of the Northern Conference finals will be back at the DeSoto Civic Center on Thursday, April 24th, starting at 7:05 PM.

Playoff tickets are available from the DCC box office and through Ticketmaster. For group tickets and other information, call the RiverKings offices at 662-342-1755.
